I donât know about you, but coming out of the latest Google I/O, I was left with a strange feeling... As if there wasnât much to chew on when it comes to XR.
AI, on the other hand, is a different story.
But for XR, it felt more like a catch-up session â laying foundations, highlighting partnerships, aligning the narrative. Nothing truly new.
So I keep wondering :
Is Google deliberately letting its partners â Samsung, Qualcomm â take the lead for now, while keeping its own cards close to the chest ?
Or are those same partners the ones expected to make the big reveals, while Google focuses on AI and quietly builds the Android XR ecosystem without splitting public attention ?
After all, everyoneâs watching Google on the AI front right now. Maybe theyâre betting everything on that for the time being, waiting for the right moment to make a bold XR move.
Either way, I get the sense weâre in a waiting game. And in moments like this, silence is rarely meaningless.
Iâm looking forward to WWDC with curiosity.
Apple may still be ahead in terms of hardwareâŚâ¨But when it comes to AI, they seem to be in a rather awkward position. And thatâs what intrigues me: how will they respond to the pressure from the competition ?
Samsung is pushing on the hardware side. Google is coming strong with Gemini. In an XR headset, that combo is no small player â weâre not talking about a small indie from a hidden valley.
And then thereâs Meta. Always close when it comes to XR â and now with Llama on top. Their next move could reshuffle the whole game.
The XR landscape is shifting fast. Are you keeping an eye on it too ? Whatâs catching your attention these days ?
